Aura Farming
Deliberately doing things to build up your cool, mysterious energy — grinding aura like XP in a video game.
Definition
Aura farming means deliberately doing things to look cooler or more impressive so your 'aura' goes up — posing, training, traveling, or staying silent for the aesthetic, as if grinding XP in a game. Unlike naturally 'having aura,' farming is intentional reputation-building (and often called out as try-hard when obvious).
History
Grew out of the 2024 'aura' / aura-points meme wave. Gaming-fluent Gen Z applied 'farming' (grinding resources or XP) to real-life coolness, especially on TikTok.
Cultural scores
Editorial estimates of cultural weight — Current Popularity tracks how much people are posting about this now, not historical fame.
Current Popularity = how actively people are posting about this today. Influence = lasting footprint. Cringe = online reception. Brainrot = absurdist energy. How scoring works
