A hyperbolically masculine, heavily edited figure from a Russian artistic photography project — used as the ultimate 'Chad' archetype to represent someone who is supremely confident, successful, and beyond criticism.
Gigachad is placed in response to someone who gives an impossibly based, confident, or flawless answer — someone so far above the debate that they don't even need to engage. The image signals that the person being described is operating on a level beyond normal standards. Related to the Chad/Virgin meme dichotomy but taken to an absurd extreme.
History
The Gigachad images come from a 2017 artistic photography project called 'Sleek N Tears' by Russian photographer Krista Sudmalis. The model depicted — whose identity is disputed and has been associated with the name 'Ernest Khalimov' — is heavily post-processed to exaggerate masculine facial features. The photos circulated on Russian social media before reaching 4chan and Reddit's male-coded communities around 2020–2021, where they became the definitive visual for the 'Gigachad' archetype.
